CO-OP SPOTLIGHT Alise Newman Alise Newman, a senior enrolled in our Marketing program, has made the most of her high school experience, both in the classroom and in the workplace. Over the past four years, she has completed Marketing I and II, Computer Applications, College Computer Applications for Management, and Personal Finance. During her senior year, Alise completed a co-op placement at Save A Lot, where she demonstrated exceptional drive and leadership. She began as a cashier and quickly earned promotions—first to front-end supervisor, and then to produce manager. In this role, Alise was responsible for a wide range of duties, including preparing register drawers before store opening, reconciling petty cash, handling deposits, inputting data into the store’s computer system, resolving escalated customer service issues, managing inventory, ensuring quality control, and overseeing merchandising for the produce department. Her rapid advancement and growing responsibilities reflect the high caliber of student and employee she is. Alise's journey from cashier to an integral member of the store's leadership and sales team—while still in high school—is a remarkable accomplishment. She has gained invaluable business and marketing experience that will undoubtedly serve her well as she pursues a degree in Business Administration at Mansfield University this fall. Congratulations, Alise! #OwlPride #CTE

CO-OP SPOTLIGHT Alyssa Worthington Alyssa Worthington is a senior in our Early Childhood Education program. She chose to enroll in the program because of her passion for working with children—it offered her the opportunity to do what she loves during the school day while also earning college credit. For the past three years, Alyssa has been both enrolled in the program and actively employed in childcare settings. This year, she completed her co-op placement at Care for Children – Rainbow Corner Preschool. Her favorite part of the experience was the hands-on interaction with the children, especially during the many holiday celebrations her classes participated in throughout the year. Alyssa also served as the president of our local FCCLA chapter and she served as the 2025 State FCCLA Vice President of Recognition. Looking ahead, Alyssa plans to continue her education by taking online courses through Liberty University, pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. #OwlPride #CTE

BAHS CO-OP SPOTLIGHT Ashley Engle Ashley, a senior in our Machine Technology program, completed her co-op work experience this year at W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery. During her time there, she gained hands-on experience operating various CNC machines and assisted the tool and die makers by producing essential parts used across different departments. Ashley’s favorite aspect of the Machine Technology program was learning practical, industry-ready skills that she can carry with her into the future. Although she enjoyed her time working in the tool and die department, Ashley has chosen to take a different path—she will be pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice at Edinboro University this fall, with aspirations of becoming a detective. #OwlPride #CTE

For the first time ever, all 31 students enrolled in our Early Childhood Education program participated in paid co-op placements while completing their required hours. This milestone marks a significant achievement for our program and students. Our Early Childhood Education program equips students with the skills and knowledge needed for careers involving children. Students gain hands-on experience developing age-appropriate curriculum, designing activity centers, and creating lesson plans. A major component of the program involves working directly with children, guiding behavior, and supporting classroom learning in pre-kindergarten settings throughout the community. This year, students completed their placement hours at a variety of local sites, including GGB Elementary School, Head Start, ABC Grow with Me, Twin Tiers YMCA, Care for Children, and Learn Love Laugh Childcare Center. Historically, these placements were unpaid. However, thanks to grant funding through PA CareerLink and Workforce Solutions of North Central Pennsylvania, students were able to earn an hourly wage while also receiving high school credit and completing hours toward their Child Development Associate (CDA) certification. To earn CDA certification, students must complete 480 hours of hands-on experience in a prekindergarten lab setting and 120 hours of related classroom instruction. Upon certification, students are eligible to receive up to 11 college credits through articulation agreements with participating colleges and universities. We are deeply grateful for the partnerships with our local educational agencies and the generous support of our grant providers. Their collaboration has made this meaningful, work-based learning opportunity possible for our students. #OwlPride #CTE
