Curricular Standards
By the time of graduation,
students in the Bradford Area High School should be able to...
- Develop a knowledge, recognition, and appreciation of
quality and craftsmanship in literature. (PA Standards
1.3.11A and 1.3.11F)
- Identify information needs and goals, and develop appropriate
research strategies for meeting them. (PA Standards 1.8.11A
and 1.8.11B)
- Locate and acquire information using both traditional
resources and emerging technologies. (PA Standards 1.1.11A,
1.2.11B and 1.8.11B)
- Evaluate, organize, summarize, and present information.
(PA Standards 1.5.11B.i, 1.8.11B, 1.8.11C)
- Give appropriate credit for information using standard
bibliographic formats. (PA Standards 1.8.11C)
To
help BAHS students accomplish these objectives, we collaborate
with many other academic departments. We work most closely
with the English and Social Sciences departments to develop
strategies for research, skill in using reference materials
and computer databases, and skill in giving appropriate credit
for any information used. We particularly stress methods of
evaluating information found on the Internet.

Library
Hours
The library is open
every school day from 7:10 am until 3:10 pm.
You may arrange with a librarian to come earlier in the morning
or stay later in the afternoon.
The daily schedule
for the library is announced each morning.
- OPEN
Students may come to the library from study halls with a
green general privilege pass if no classes are scheduled
to use the library.
- REFERENCE
If one class is scheduled, students may only come to the
library with a white reference pass signed. During
reference periods, students are expected to be working on
a research project for the teacher who signed the pass.
- CLOSED
If two or more classes are scheduled to use the library,
the library is closed to study hall students.

Library
Policies
When you come to
the library, you are expected to behave like ladies and gentlemen.
The following rules apply:
- Show respect for people and property.
- Sit two people or fewer per table.
- Have something constructive to do. Reading, research,
homework, and computer work are appropriate.
- Do more work than talk. If it is necessary to talk, whisper.
- Do not use headphones of any kind.
- Do not eat or drink while in the library. All food
and beverage items, including candy, must be left at the
checkout desk.
Students who show
disregard for library policies may have their library privileges
temporarily or permanently revoked.
