Academics - 7th Grade

Foods and Nutrition

This course is designed to teach students the basics of foods and nutrition.  Topics covered are kitchen safety, basics of food preparation, using kitchen utensils and equipment, the Food Guide Pyramid, main nutrients and menu planning.   Each unit varies in length depending on the content area.  Approximately 25% of the classes are spent in cooking labs.
