Superintendent's Corner

Public education is one of the most important functions of an organized democratic society and Bradford Area School District has taken this responsibility very seriously.  Bradford Schools are a significant part of our community and often the school buildings become much-used public buildings for our community.

Bradford Area Schools, made up of two elementary schools, a middle school, and a comprehensive high school is committed to maintaining schools with a strong community focus, in an effort to meet the emotional, intellectual, vocational, and social needs of its student population of approximately 3,000 students.

As can be seen in the school district report card, there are numerous indicators that point to Bradford Schools as a district which is putting forth a great deal of effort in the educational process.  Faculty attendance rates are high indicating that staff members are dedicated and show a commitment to teaching and learning.  Student attendance rates are high indicating that students are attending regularly in an effort to learn.  Community support of Bradford Schools is evidenced by the significant degree of business, industry, and higher education partnerships with our schools.

Bradford Schools provides comprehensive education services in compliance with state and federal laws.  A full time Pupil Personnel Team with psychologists, health professions, professional and administrative personnel is available for both regular education and special needs students. Comprehensive Special Education programs are provided to all students in the schools.

The education at Bradford Schools prepares students for adult life by attending to their intellectual and developmental needs and challenging them to achieve at the highest level possible.  In conjunction with families and other community institutions, Bradford Schools prepares students to become self-directed, lifelong learners and responsible, involved citizens.

The PA mandated academic standards describe the knowledge and skills which students K-12 will be expected to demonstrate before graduating from Bradford Schools.   Achievement of high academic standards at Bradford Schools is dependent upon the high  quality of instruction in our schools and student effort supported by the involvement of our families and our community.  Assessment at Bradford Schools is designed to determine student achievement of the PA Standards.

As your superintendent, I am proud to not only be the education leader of the Bradford Area School District, but as a dad, I am honored and humbled to have my own three children instructed by some of the finest staff whom I have ever worked with!
