Title
I - No Child Left Behind
TITLE
I AND NO CHILD
LEFT BEHIND
The
Title I program in the Bradford Area School District is funded
by dollars from the federal government. These dollars are
to be used for extra help in reading and math. There are Title
I programs at School Street Elementary and George G. Blaisdell
Elementary School after-school program.
On
January 8, 2001 President Bush signed into law a new education
bill for Title I called No
Child Left Behind . Title I is still to be used to help
students with reading and math skills. But now, students will
be tested on a regular basis to make certain that they are
learning what is taught. Even students who have learning problems
are expected to make good progress in their work.
No
Child Left Behind requires the school to let parents know
how their children are doing with their work. We must let
you know how the students in your child's school do on the
state test. Teachers in the schools must keep track of test
scores, so they can work with students who are having difficulty.
Title
I and the Bradford Area School District provide a place for
parents to borrow resources that will help their children
succeed in school. Any one living in the Bradford Area School
district is welcome to come in and browse through the many
books, videos and educational games.
