Pre-Kindergarten - Intergenerational Project

Pre-K children and educators have developed an ongoing relationship with the residents and staff at the Ecumenical Home and Chapel Ridge.  We plan a variety of small group activities and invite the residents to take an active part.  This ongoing project is research-based and has proved to benefit all those involved.  The conversations encourage language and vocabulary development which is vital to a child's literacy development.  The children provide a stimulation for the residents that promotes a higher level of interaction and often lots of laughter.  Our intent is to create a mutual respect among the oldest and youngest citizens in our society.
