1. Amanda Susan Pearce Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, April 28

Requirements: Must have a 3.0 GPA, copy of acceptance letter from school of higher learning, and a typed essay about truth.

Value: $500 scholarship

2. American Association of University Women Scholarship (AAUW), Bradford Branch

Deadline: Monday, April 10 – (Returned to the Guidance Office)

Requirements: Need two letters of recommendation, a list of activities in and out of school, and an essay (250 words) about your educational goals and how this scholarship will help you in achieving these goals. Must be related to a Bradford AAUW member.

Value: Amount to be determined

3. Andrus Family Good Citizenship Award

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: Qualities of good citizenship, leadership, and contribution to school/community; one letter of recommendation; and a paragraph explaining why you deserve this award.

Value: $1,000 scholarship

4. BAHS Key Club Member Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: Member of Key Club; essay on “How Key Club has influenced your life and future goals”;

3 letters of recommendation; Community Service.

Value: Amount to be determined

5. Bradford Area Education Association – Education Career Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, April 28

Requirements: Pursuing a career in education including teacher, school nurse, counselor, etc. with an essay; and a list of school/community activities.

Value: One $500 scholarship

6. Bradford Area Education Association - BAEA Member Scholarship

Deadline:  Friday, April 28

Requirements:  Parent/step-parent is a BAEA Member; Prompt:  "What it is like to be the child of an educator"; list of school/community activities; and transcript.

Value:  Up to $1,000 Scholarship

7. Bradford Area Fire Departments Scholarships

Deadline:  Monday, May 1

Requirements:  Junior member of a participating fire department and/or a child or grandchild of one of the participating departments listed on the scholarship guidelines (A letter from the department chief must be written to confirm the member is active.);500 word essay; accepted to a 4-year college, community college or 2 year trade school; GPA of 2.5 or higher; transcript; two letters of recommendation; completed application and provide authorization for the committee to acquire the applicants attendance and transcript records; list of activities both inside and outside of school.

Value:  One scholarship - Awarded to the highest scoring recipient

            One scholarship - Awarded to the second highest scoring recipient

 

8. Bradford Area High School Alumni Association Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, April 28

Requirements: Based on the high school academic and activities record; essay on your future educational plans; 2 letters of recommendation.

Value: Amount to be determined

9. Bradford Area High School Class of 1959 Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, April 28

Requirements:  Must be accepted and enrolled in an institution of higher learning.  Complete application; essay; and transcript.

Value:  One $1,000 scholarship - Male

           One $1,000 scholarship - Female

10. Bradford Area High School Class of 1960 Scholarship

Deadline:  Monday, May 1

Requirements:  Must have attended BAHS for at least 2 full years; official transcript with a cumulative GPA of 75% or higher; complete personal data form; 1200-1500 word essay; 3 letters of recommendation; financial assessment form from the financial aid office of the college you will be attending; work experience and extra-curricular form; your parents' latest 1040 form.  Note:  Since the college financial aid assessment form must be returned to you before you return all the material to the guidance office, send this form to the college financial aid office well before May 1st deadline.  You will need to make a decision as to the college you will attend by early April.

Value:  $500 scholarship

11. Bradford Ecumenical Home - Ann E. Lee Nursing Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: 3 copies of completed application; 3 recommendation forms; 250 word essay on “Why you desire a career in nursing”; proof of enrollment from an Accredited Nursing Program.

Value: Two $1,000 scholarships

12. Bradford Instrumental Music Scholarship (also available from Miss Thumpston)

Deadline: Friday, April 14 – (Returned to the Guidance Office)

Requirements: Participation in the instrumental program for a minimum of 2 years; two letters of recommendation; high school transcript; and list of all extracurricular activities.

(Financial need and college major in music are not required).

Value: Two $500 scholarships

13. Bradford Public Schools Foundation - (Harry Lasky Scholarship)

Deadline:  Monday, May 1

Requirements:  Must be accepted into a higher institution of learning.  Supply Federal Income Tax form to determine financial need (20%), significant school participation (10%); participation in community or civic activities (10%); two character references (5%); and a 500-word essay on "Is Advanced Education Worth the Effort to Achieve My Goals?" (35%).

Value:  One or more in value from $1,000-$5,000 (dependent on investment results)

14. Bradford Rotary Vocational Scholarship

Deadline: Saturday, April 15 – Must be postmarked by this date and mailed by the student to the Bradford Rotary.

Requirements: Academic Achievement (35%) both cum GPA and Vocational GPA of 3.5 or higher; school participation (10%); civic/community participation (15%); three character references (5%); essay (30%) on “The Importance of Voc/Technical Skills in Today’s Workplace”; and attendance (5%).

Value: Two $750 Scholarships

15. Bradford Township Lions Club Scholarship

Deadline: Tuesday, May 2

Requirements: GPA of 2.5 or higher; two letters of recommendation; list of activities both in and out of school; preference to a Lions affiliation in one of the townships (e.g., Foster Township, Bradford Township); and an essay on “Why You Deserve This Scholarship.”

Value: One $500 scholarship for either a Voc-Tech School/College or four-year college/university

16. Bradford Union Lodge #749 Scholarship

Deadline:  Monday, May 1

Requirements:  Need two letters of recommendation; transcript; a list of activities in and out of school; and an essay (200 words) on "Why you deserve the scholarship and how it will help you achieve your goals."  Don't need a Masonic affiliation but preference will go to such a student.

Value:  One $500 for either a Vo-Tech School/College or a four-year college/university.

17. Brenda Ambrose Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: Minimum 2 year participation in one or more girls’ interscholastic sports;

3 recommendations; and an essay on “How sports played a role in your life.”

Value: $200 scholarship

18. Brian Lechner Vocational Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: Sr. enrolled in a BAHS Career Technical area who will continue in a post-secondary career technical area; involvement in school/community activities; need for financing; and official transcript.

2 recommendations.

Value: $500 scholarship

19. Bryan Hannon Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: Minimum GPA of 3.0, a list of extra-curricular activities, and a typed 300 word essay discussing your favorite season and why, and then describe your favorite outdoor activity.

Value: Amount to be determined

20. Carole Marie Moore Scholarship (available from Miss Thumpston)

Deadline: Friday, April 7 – Return application to Miss Thumpston

Requirements: Member of BAHS Marching Band for 2 or more years; enrolled in a post-secondary institution; and an essay on “How band has influenced my life”.

Value: $500 scholarship

21. Charmaine Bickel Memorial Scholarship (available from Miss Thumpston)

Deadline: Friday, April 7 – Return application to Miss Thumpston

Requirements: Member of BAHS combined concert-Marching Band with college major in the field of music education.

Value: Amount to be determined

22. Chosen Acres Realty Scholarship

Requirements:  Academic Achievements; transcript; list of school/community activities.

23. Cody Frantz Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements:  Must have a 2.0 GPA; copy of acceptance letter from school of higher learning majoring in one of the following:  Carpentry and Construction, Welding and Fabrication, HVAC, CAD and Design, Electricity and Construction, Fish and Wildlife Management, Conservation, or Forestry; list of school/community activities; a brief paragraph explaining why you chose the career field you chose; transcript.

24. E & M Civil Engineering and Land Surveying Scholarship

Deadline:  Saturday, April 1 (Mailed by student to E & M Engineers and Surveyors, PC**)

Requirements:  Student must intend to enroll in matriculated program in the fields of Civil Engineering or Land Survey; however, other engineering degrees will also be considered.  Student must provide letter of recommendation from high school teacher or principal.  Student must submit a 200 word essay stating why you think Civil Engineering or Land Surveying are important professions and why you would like to enter the field.

Value:  $1,000

25. Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2432 and Auxiliary

Deadline: Check back in Guidance later for details – Mailed or delivered to the Eagles Club by student

Requirements: Parent, legal guardian, or grandparent who is a current member of Eagles Aerie #2432 or Auxiliary; proof of attendance at an accredited post-secondary institution; and a 300 word essay on “People Helping People.”

Value: $1,000 from Eagles Aerie #2432

26. Garrick S. Anderson Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: This scholarship's original intent was to give this award to a student who has been in the automotive program for three consecutive years.  It has been expanded to include any student in the BAHS carpentry, machinist, or electrical programs, though preference will be given to a student attending a post-secondary program in automotive education; Submit two (2) letters of recommendation(one of these letters must be from their CTE instructor); essay on future plans; and transcript.

Value: $500 scholarship or tool set of equal value

27. Honey Lee Colella Education Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements:  Two (2) letters of recommendation - one from a teacher reflecting a love of children, leadership, work ethic and good character; pursuing post-secondary education in elementary or early childhood education at an accredited institution of higher learning; essay on why you want to teach young children; an official transcript. 

Value: $500

28. Italian-American Progressive Club Basketball Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, April 28

Requirements: Must be a member of the Boys or Girls Basketball Team for the past 2 or more years; enrolled in a post-secondary institution; student’s academic record will be considered and an essay about your character and qualification for the scholarship.

29. Jon and William Abbey Memorial Scholarships

Jon B. Abbey Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Tuesday, April 25

Requirements: Transcript with minimum cum GPA of 95; two letters of recommendation; essay describing why you have chosen to enter the field of engineering; resided in McKean County for a minimum of 3 years.

Value: $1,000

William Charles Abbey Memorial Scholarship

Deadline:  Tuesday, April 25

Requirements:  Any field of art except music.  Official transcript with a minimum GPA of 95; two (2) letters of recommendation; essay describing why you have chosen your field of art; resided in McKean County for a minimum of 3 years.

Value:  $1,000

30. Julianna Rose Barton Scholarship for Nursing

Deadline:  Friday, April 28

Requirements:  A brief typed essay explaining "What sparked your interest in Nursing and why becoming a nurse is important to you".  Two (2) letters of recommendation; transcript.

Value:  $1,000 @ $500 each semester

31. Kiwanis Club of Bradford Technical Scholarship

Deadline: Friday, April 28

Requirements: A Career Technical senior pursuing post-secondary schooling in a similar field; an essay on “Why you are pursuing that field”; 3 letters of recommendation; and a list of school/community involvement.

Value: $1,000

32. LeRoy G. Erickson Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1 – Postmark deadline of May 1 and mailed by student

Requirements: A personal recommendation, an essay, a financial assessment form from the financial aid office of the college you will be attending, a list of extra-curricular activities, and your parents’ latest 1040 form.

NOTE: ALL required materials must be submitted in ONE envelope to a national scholarship management firm located in Minnesota. Since the college financial aid assessment form must be returned to you before you mail in all the material, you must send this form to the college financial aid office well before May 1st deadline. In other words, you need to make a decision as to the college you will attend by early April.

33. Richard D. Benton Kiwanis Scholarship

 Deadline:  Monday, May 1

Requirements:  Most recent report card; essay on why you plan to major in either education, history, social studies or political science; and description of Bradford.

Value:  $500

34. Student Council Academic Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: Academic achievement; school/community activities; and financial need considered; two letters of recommendation; a paragraph on “Why you deserve this scholarship.”

36. Wilhelm Vaughn Potkovick Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, April 24

Requirements: Copy of acceptance letter from the school of higher learning; the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) from the FAFSA; parents’ most recent IRS Form 1040; a profile of student’s school activities, community service, work experience; and a paragraph on “Why I Need This Scholarship.”

Value: Amount to be determined

37. Zachary P. Vigliotta Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, May 1

Requirements: Essay that covers your educational, career goals and financial need; school participation; and academic record considered; official transcript.

Value: One or more in value from $500 to $1,000

38. Women's Literary Club

Deadline:  Wednesday, March 15

Requirements:  Male or Female seniors can submit application; 3.0 GPA; completed application form; acceptance letter from an accredited school; transcript;brief essay of your future plans including your educational and career goals; list of activities.
